About this program

The University of Queensland's Master of Economics builds strong quantitative and data-analysis skills and requires no prior study of economics. It runs two years for graduates from any discipline, or 1.5 years for those with an undergraduate degree in economics, business or commerce and an advanced understanding of economic concepts. Students can take a broad foundation for wide career options or specialise in Applied Econometrics, Economics and Public Policy, or Health Economics. Entry to the 1.5-year program needs a bachelor's degree in the same discipline with a GPA of 4.5 on a 7-point scale, or a UQ Graduate Certificate in Economics; international students need IELTS 6.5 overall with no sub-band below 6.0. Applications close 30 November for Semester 1 and 31 May for Semester 2. Indicative international tuition is around A$45,700 per year. Graduates work in public policy, consulting, central banks and international organisations.
