About this program
The Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University of Queensland is a 4-semester graduate-entry qualification for students who already hold an undergraduate degree and want to become registered primary school teachers. Early study covers child development, curriculum design and contemporary theories of learning, before extended professional placements, 60 days of supervised classroom experience in total, let students apply teaching approaches in real Queensland schools. Core courses include introduction to teaching mathematics, building inclusive primary classrooms and teaching science, taught by lecturers with national and international teaching awards. The program is accredited for teacher registration in Queensland and other Australian states, with the option to teach internationally afterwards. Because Queensland teacher registration requires a higher English band than most UQ postgraduate programs, applicants need stronger IELTS scores than a typical master's degree. Graduates typically register as primary school teachers or move into curriculum leadership roles.

Admissions
To be eligible for entry, you'll need: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, which includes one year of full-time equivalent study in areas relevant to one or more learning areas of the primary school curriculum in Australian schools (see below). You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
