Bachelor of Information Technology
University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, QLD, Australia
About this program
This is the entry-level computing degree UniSQ builds its whole postgraduate IT pipeline around. Finish it and the university explicitly points graduates toward its Master of Information Technology, Master of Data Science, or Master of Cyber Security as the next step, which tells you something about how the undergraduate course is structured: broad enough in first year to let students discover which specialisation actually interests them, then increasingly focused from second year on.
Majors run through the usual spread for a modern IT degree, including software development, cyber security, networking, data science and analytics, and programming-heavy units are backed by UniSQ's long-running remote/online lab infrastructure, the same systems that support its distance engineering cohort, so external students aren't working with a lesser version of the practical content.
A professional placement or capstone project unit near the end of the course gives students something concrete to point to in job interviews beyond a transcript, and the degree's accreditation alignment with the Australian Computer Society matters for students planning to chase ACS-recognised professional status after graduation.
