About this program
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine) at the University of Sydney trains qualified dentists to diagnose and manage the full range of oral mucosal and salivary gland diseases, facial pain, and the oral effects of systemic conditions such as HIV. Teaching is clinically based, with a research project each semester and close cooperation with the medical and surgical units at Westmead Hospital, including care for medically compromised patients such as transplant recipients.
The course is aimed at local and international dentists preparing for a career in clinical oral medicine, and graduates are prepared for specialist practice ranging from major hospitals to private clinics. Sydney has run its dental school for more than a century and has invested in a dedicated simulation centre for clinical training.
