About this program
The Graduate Diploma in Bioethics at the University of Sydney is a 1-year postgraduate coursework graduate diploma. Bioethics is a field that studies ethical challenges that arise in health care, public health and the life sciences. It thinks about and responds to social concerns about issues including engineering, migrant or prisoner health, animal experimentation, and ethical challenges in clinical medicine. Students don’t have to come from a medical or health background to study bioethics. The students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as philosophy, humanities, social science, law, science, medicine, nursing, allied health professions, psychology and health management. Full time study can normally be completed over the course of 2 semesters, with 3 units taken per semester. Their individual study plan will depend on the availability of units in a given semester.
