About this program
The Master of Orthoptics at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is the only postgraduate orthoptics course in Australia. Orthoptists assess, diagnose and provide non-surgical management of eye movement disorders and vision problems in children and adults. Study covers eye anatomy and physiology, ophthalmic diagnostics, therapeutics and orthoptic clinical practice, with placements in hospitals, private practices and rehabilitation settings, including options interstate, regional and overseas.
The course is fully accredited by the Australian Orthoptic Board, and graduates are eligible for registration as an orthoptist. Study takes two years full-time. English requirements are IELTS Academic 7.0 overall.

Admissions
Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 4/7 AND Communication skills, interpersonal skills, interest in eye health, and commitment to orthoptics as a career (assessed in an interview by the faculty)
