About this program

The Master of Teaching in Secondary Education at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is a 96 credit point graduate-entry teacher education degree. Students complete 42 credit points of core subjects covering Indigenous knowledges, inclusive education, digital teaching and adolescent learners, then specialise in a single teaching area such as English, Science, Maths or HSIE, or a combined specialisation, with professional experience in partner schools.
The course is accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority as a secondary teaching qualification. Study takes two years full-time. English requirements are IELTS Academic 7.5 overall, in line with NESA teacher standards.

Completed Australian bachelor's degree, bachelor's honours, master's degree, doctorate, or overseas equivalent, with at least one major discipline study relevant to the teaching area, as described by the NSW curriculum and consistent with NESA Subject Content Knowledge Requirements Students who have studied overseas may be required to meet additional requirements set by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to qualify as teachers in NSW.
