About this program
UniSC's law degree covers the standard Priestley 11 academic requirements for legal practice admission in Australia, including Contracts, Torts, Property, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, Corporations Law, Evidence, Administrative Law and the rest, but distinguishes itself with two courses that put students in front of real legal problems before graduation. LAW423 Community Legal Practice has students shadowing practising lawyers and assisting with actual client work, and LAW400 Negotiation and Dispute Resolution runs as a simulated clinic where students work in fictional firms resolving hypothetical client disputes.
Because UniSC is a regional university without the long institutional pedigree of the sandstone law schools, the program leans on this practical-exposure angle as its point of difference, along with combined degree options (Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business, /Bachelor of Arts, /Bachelor of Environmental Management) that let students pair legal training with another discipline rather than studying law in isolation.
