About this program

The Master of Data Science at UWA teaches students to transform large, complex datasets into decisions, covering contemporary data management and storage, visualisation, internet-based applications, software project management, and the statistical and machine-learning foundations of analytics, along with high performance computing. Students from a non-cognate background complete up to 24 points of conversion units in Python, databases and statistics, followed by 30 points of core units (data science fundamentals, machine learning, predictive modelling, Bayesian statistics and a capstone project) and electives in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, deep learning and business intelligence. It runs 1.5 to 2 years full-time depending on background, with Semester 1 and Semester 2 entry and Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma exit awards. The course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society. Entry requires a bachelor's degree with a weighted average of at least 65 per cent and ATAR Mathematics Methods or equivalent. International tuition is about A$52,000 per year.
