About this program
The University of Western Australia Master of Economics is offered as a 72-point, 1.5-year coursework program or a 96-point, 2-year coursework-and-dissertation program. Admission requires a bachelor degree with a major in economics or equivalent and a UWA weighted average of at least 65 per cent in Level 3 economics units, plus completion of an intermediate econometrics or statistics unit and an intermediate mathematics-for-economists unit. Students can specialise in areas such as applied economics, environmental economics, health economics or financial economics, and may include a research dissertation. Many units are taught after hours or as intensives, and part-time study is available. Graduates work as economic analysts and policy advisers across local, state and federal government, and in banks, consultancies, international agencies, insurers and the wider finance industry. International tuition is about A$51,400 per year.
