About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is a four-year, nationally accredited double degree for students who want to become secondary school design and technology or visual arts teachers, combining design training with 80 days of supervised professional teaching experience across two secondary schools. Depending on which design specialisation a student chooses, Computational Design, Industrial Design or Integrated Design, they gain teaching accreditation in different combinations of subjects: Design and Technology, Enterprise Computing, Graphics and Multimedia Technology, Visual Arts, or Textiles and Design, as either a first or additional teaching area. It suits students who know from the outset that they want to teach design-related subjects in secondary schools, giving them both genuine design expertise and a fully accredited teaching qualification in one combined program, rather than completing a design degree followed by a separate teaching qualification afterward.
