About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Fine Arts is built around distinctive specialisations in Animation and Moving Image, Art Theory, Music and Visual Arts, each led by discipline experts and backed by specialist facilities across Paddington campus for the visual and theory specialisations and Kensington campus for music. Hands-on creative practice is balanced with studies in the histories and theories of each discipline, helping students understand how creativity and culture intersect with the social, ethical and global contexts of contemporary life. The three-year program builds a genuine creative community for deep engagement in practice, honing both creative and professional skills to prepare graduates for industry pathways or further study. It suits students who know they want a genuinely practice-focused fine arts education with real specialisation depth, rather than a broad, generalist creative arts degree, whichever of the four specialisations matches their creative direction.

Admissions
Applicant to Music Specialisation only: An Advanced Entry Scheme is available to suitably qualified applicants. Students admitted into the advanced entry scheme may receive a block credit of up to 24 UOC in Level 1 music courses. To undertake a Music Specialisation within the Bachelor of Fine Arts you must pass an audition and select the 'Music' specialisation through the Stream Declaration process after enrolment.
