About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) builds an integrated education across learning, memory, cognition, perception, motivation, lifespan development, personality, social interaction and abnormal psychology, combining scientific research training with applied practice skills. In the fourth honours year, students complete a year-long, 30-credit-point independent research project across areas including psychopathology, behavioural neuroscience, cognitive science, forensic psychology or social and developmental psychology, culminating in a thesis independently assessed by two academics other than their own supervisor. Alongside the research project, students complete 18 credit points of advanced coursework covering the history, professional ethics and evidence-based practice foundations of psychology, plus contemporary issues reflecting current staff research specialisations. It suits high-achieving psychology students who want genuine research experience and a thesis-based honours qualification, positioning graduates for clinical, forensic, health or organisational psychology careers as well as further postgraduate psychology study.

Admissions
UNSW Students may be granted Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) which may or may not reduce the amount of learning required to achieve a degree at UNSW. Generally, RPL is only granted based on the completion of tertiary-level studies, but in exceptional circumstances may also include non-formal or informal learning such as professional experience. RPL will not be granted based on partly completed tertiary courses. All applications for RPL at UNSW are subject to UNSW Recognition of Prior Learning (Coursework Programs) Policy and Procedures.
