Bachelor of Science
UNSW Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
About this program
UNSW's general science degree covers an unusually wide span of majors (more than 20, from physics and chemistry through marine science, genetics, and data science) and lets students combine two majors or pair a major with a minor rather than committing early to a narrow discipline. First year is broad and shared, so switching majors after starting is genuinely low-cost.
UNSW's science faculty has strengths that show up in specific majors: quantum and astrophysics research feeds the physics major, and marine biology students get access to field stations rather than purely lab-based teaching. Honours, a separate competitive fourth year, is the normal route into a research career or PhD from here.
