About this program
UNSW's Diploma in Engineering is a 12-month pathway into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), letting students complete eight courses required for their chosen major that satisfy first-year requirements for that discipline, with credit granted for equivalent courses once they progress into the full degree. Science courses build foundational scientific background while engineering courses give students hands-on experience designing and constructing real engineering prototypes, all delivered at a slower pace with more face-to-face contact hours than standard first-year courses to ease the transition into university-level engineering study. After successfully completing the required eight courses, students receive advanced standing credit and progress directly into second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in their chosen discipline. It suits students who want a UNSW engineering degree but need a supported, slower-paced entry point before committing to full first-year engineering coursework.
