About this program
UNSW's Master of Global Health takes an interdisciplinary approach to complex population health issues across local and global settings, grounded in public health but extending into comparative analysis of global health systems, health policy, and the politics and philosophy underpinning global health debates. The program tackles genuinely difficult questions around globalisation and health, decolonisation, health and human rights, environmental change and urban population growth, taught by a multidisciplinary team of research-active academics working across the Asia-Pacific and sub-Saharan Africa. Graduates typically move into roles with bilateral and multilateral aid organisations, UN agencies, civil society and NGOs, private foundations, health departments and academia. It suits students who want to work on population health challenges that cross national borders and jurisdictions, rather than domestic public health practice alone, and who are prepared to engage with the political and philosophical dimensions of global health as much as the epidemiological ones.

Admissions
There are two pathways for entry and a third exceptional pathway: Applicants must have a) A three year undergraduate degree in any field of study and b) Two years of full-time professional or volunteer experience in a relevant field (see list below)**. The professional experience may include experience in health or public health services acquired as part of a degree of 4 or more years duration, e.g. MBBS, MD. OR 2. Applicants must have a) An undergraduate degree plus honours in a relevant field of study (see list below)* or b) Postgraduate degree in a relevant field of study (see list below)* OR 3. In exceptional circumstances, applications will be considered for entry when they have extensive professional health or public health experience but do not hold a relevant degree qualification .
