About this program
UNSW's Master of Laws by Coursework lets graduates expand and deepen their legal expertise through a flexible structure that tailors the degree to each student's personal interests, emphasising a genuine mix of domestic, international and comparative legal perspectives. Students select eight courses from a wide range taught within and outside the Faculty of Law and Justice, building expert legal knowledge alongside genuine legal and research skills, delivered in a range of formats spanning term-length and intensive courses, primarily face-to-face with online and hybrid options available. Course availability varies year to year depending on student interest and teacher availability, so not every course runs annually. It suits practising lawyers wanting to specialise further in a particular area of law, as well as law graduates from other jurisdictions wanting genuine exposure to Australian and comparative legal perspectives.

Admissions
To be eligible for the Master of Laws by Coursework, you must have a credit average (WAM of 65% or higher as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator) in one of the following: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours; OR A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) obtained through either a double degree program or a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a minimum 4-year duration; OR A Postgraduate degree in law or a relevant cognate discipline; OR A Bachelor degree in a relevant cognate discipline AND at least two years of documented relevant professional experience.
