About this program

A four-year honours degree that qualifies graduates to teach primary school, Reception to Year 6. It is a standalone undergraduate route into teaching, not a graduate-entry program. Placement is substantial and starts in first year, building to 640 hours of supervised professional experience across the degree. Before the final placement, students must pass the national LANTITE literacy and numeracy test and complete child protection training, and a Working with Children Check is required. Entry requires IELTS 7.0 with no band below 7.0 for international students. On graduation students are eligible to apply for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia. Adelaide also offers early childhood and secondary teaching routes, with secondary teaching taken as a graduate-entry master's. It suits students committed to primary teaching from the start of their undergraduate study.
