The Master of Philosophy at the Australian National University in Physics is a research higher degree in which candidates undertake supervised research culminating in a thesis that makes an original contribution to knowledge in areas such as quantum science and technology, photonics, plasma and fusion physics, materials physics, or astrophysics and cosmology. Candidates work with increased independence under a supervisory panel of experts, and the MPhil can serve as a pathway to PhD candidature.
