About this program
The Master of Science (Advanced) in Nuclear Science at the Australian National University is the only postgraduate nuclear science education offered in Australia. Over two years, students study the fundamentals and applications of nuclear science, including materials analysis, dating techniques, nuclear medicine and nuclear energy, through a mix of coursework and individual and group research projects. Students develop the scientific background for informed debate on nuclear issues without advocating a particular position, with access to the Australian Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility. Nuclear science knowledge is increasingly important across medical physics, industry, mining, security, defence and policy.
