About this program
Bond University's Graduate Diploma in Construction Practice is an eight-subject course, about two semesters, between the Graduate Certificate and the Master of Construction Practice. It extends the certificate with subjects in project management, plant and equipment, and cost planning, and is open to graduates from construction and non-construction backgrounds. All subjects are credited in full toward the master's, which is recognised by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. It suits people moving into construction or quantity surveying who want more than the certificate but a staged route to the full degree.

Course structure
- The Graduate Diploma in Construction Practice is an eight-subject, two-semester program built from a common core plus two elective streams. Core subjects include SSUD71-101 Understanding Buildings (the construction process, stakeholders and cost factors, focused on detached housing), SDCM71-316 Structures and Materials (structural engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics for non-engineering backgrounds), SSUD71-103 Principles of Project Management (using the PMBOK Guide framework), SSUD71-308 Project Contract Administration (construction contract law and practice), SSUD71-309 Building Services (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire and vertical-transport systems), SSUD71-313 Commercial Construction and Engineering, and SSUD71-317 Measurement 1 (the Standard Method of Measurement of Building Works). Students then choose 20 credit points from an elective set covering SDCM71-314 Building Controls and Regulation, SDCM71-322 Building Pathology and Forensic Engineering, SDCM71-323 Expert Witness and Dispute Resolution, SDCM71-324 Sustainable Refurbishment and Retrofit, SSUD71-106 Real Estate Property Rights, and SSUD71-300 Planning and Assessment Processes.
