About this program
The Master of Clinical Neuropsychology course includes units which contain a blend of theory and practice together with 1,000 hours of supervised practice and a research project. Students completing this course typically work as clinical neuropsychologists in public or private hospitals and/or in private practice. Hospital/clinic settings encompass neurological, psychiatric, geriatric, paediatric, drug/alcohol, forensic, and rehabilitation disciplines, where the neuropsychologist may engage in assessment and contribute to therapeutic/management programs. On completion of this course, students will be qualified to be eligible for registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and eligible to commence the pathway to be endorsed as a clinical neuropsychologist. The course aims are to develop graduates who have the following capabilities: Capability 1. Scientist and Scholar: Graduates will be evidence-based practitioners and scholars with advanced knowledge and skills in clinical neuropsychology able to deliver services across the lifespan. Capability 2. Psychologist Practitioner: Graduates will be effective communicators and highly skilled, competent psychologists delivering safe, client-centred neuropsychological assessment and intervention. Capability 3. Engaged Global Citizen: Graduates will be socially and culturally responsive psychologists with awareness of the issues affecting behaviour and cognition, and who are ready to operate effectively in a range of health settings. Capability 4. Professional: Graduates will be ethical and reflective psychologist practitioners ready to lead and work collaboratively within teams. This is a Macquarie University (Sydney) course.

Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited AQF Level 7 (Years 1-3) and Level 8 (Honours or 4th year equivalent) qualification(s) in psychology, and/or international qualification(s) that are assessed as equivalent by the Australian Psychological Society, completed within the last ten years: Minimum WAM of 75 for Years 1-3 of APAC accredited AQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent in psychology, including international qualification(s) Minimum WAM of 75 in Year 4 (Honours or 4th year equivalent) of APAC accredited AQF Level 8 psychology qualification or equivalent, including international qualification(s) In addition: Eligibility for provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia Two satisfactory referee reports supplied through the Psychology Reference Portal Satisfactory interview performance Satisfactory performance on the CASPER Situational Judgement Test completed within the 12 months prior to the commencement date of the course. Shortlisting for interview selection is based on all information provided in complete applications by the closing date. Incomplete applications will not be considered for invitations for interviews and meeting the minimum stated requirements does not guarantee an invitation to attend the interviews and/or admission to the course.
