About this program
Monash's Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood and Primary Education is an undergraduate, dual-sector teaching qualification for school leavers who want the flexibility to teach across both early childhood settings and primary schools, one of seven specialisations under Monash's Bachelor of Education. The course builds foundational teaching knowledge relevant to both age ranges from the start, rather than specialising narrowly in one sector, giving graduates broader employment options once they enter the teaching workforce. Professional experience placements across urban, rural, remote and international education settings run throughout the degree, exposing students to the practical realities of teaching very young children through to the end of primary school. It suits school leavers who know they want a teaching career but prefer maximum flexibility about which age group they end up working with, rather than committing early to either early childhood or primary teaching exclusively.

1 term of coursework
- The course requires the completion of 204 credit points structured into five parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Education studies, Part C. Curriculum studies, Part D. Discipline studies and Part E. Professional experience. The additional Mandatory requirements detailed below must also be completed. If you are enrolled in a double degree course, your discipline studies will be completed through the partner degree course. The nature and proportion of units allocated to each theme will differ depending upon your chosen specialisation.
