About this program
Monash's Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education is an undergraduate teaching qualification for school leavers who know from the outset that they want to teach in primary schools specifically, one of seven specialisations under Monash's Bachelor of Education. The course builds teaching knowledge and pedagogical skills across the full primary curriculum, spanning subjects like the arts and music, English, mathematics, humanities, science and digital technologies, preparing graduates to teach children roughly aged five to twelve. Professional experience placements across urban, rural, remote and international education settings run throughout the degree, building genuine classroom experience well before graduation. It suits school leavers with a clear preference for primary teaching over early childhood or secondary education, offering a more focused course of study than the dual-sector specialisations Monash also offers within the same Bachelor of Education program.

- The course requires the completion of 204 credit points structured into five parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Education studies, Part C. Curriculum studies, Part D. Discipline studies and Part E. Professional experience. The additional Mandatory requirements detailed below must also be completed. If you are enrolled in a double degree course, your discipline studies will be completed through the partner degree course. The nature and proportion of units allocated to each theme will differ depending upon your chosen specialisation.
