About this program
Monash's Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council as the fifth and sixth year of psychology training, preparing graduates to practise as educational and developmental psychologists across schools, health services, hospitals, clinics and corporate settings. The course builds evidence-based practice skills in assessment, therapy and applied research, aiming to produce independent professionals who can think critically about the psychological processes involved in learning and development across the lifespan rather than only in childhood. Because it covers two full accreditation levels in one course, it suits psychology graduates who are confident about specialising in educational and developmental psychology specifically, as distinct from clinical or professional psychology's broader scope. Graduates go on to work directly with children, families and schools, as well as in broader developmental psychology roles across health and community services.

- The course comprises 96 points structured into two parts: Part A. Applied studies (72 points) and Part B. Clinical placement (24 points). Attendance is mandatory for the clinical component of each applicable unit. You must successfully maintain and complete a practice log and competency journal as part of the course requirements. Both must be submitted to be eligible for course completion. Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated. Part A. Admissions
A fourth year of psychology study from any course accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), which may be a graduate diploma or bachelor's honours degree, with at least a distinction (70%) average in fourth year psychology. These qualifications must have been completed within the last 10 years of the commencement date of further studies. Applicants with international qualifications will need to have their qualifications assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
