About this program
The Bachelor of Education (Secondary Teaching) prepares students to teach Years 7 to 12 in Australia, combining educational theory with classroom experience. Students major in a subject area, English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences or Secondary Education Support, and complete a second specialisation, building deep knowledge of two subjects. The course uses SimLab, virtual technology that simulates classroom scenarios such as managing challenging behaviour and conducting parent-teacher interviews with trained actors and digital avatars. Secondary teachers in subjects such as mathematics, science and languages are consistently on Australia's skilled occupation lists and nominated by several states, though registration with a state teaching authority is required before graduates can work in schools. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.

Admissions
A minimum ATAR (or equivalent selection rank) of 70 is required for direct entry, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma total score of 24 or higher. Applicants who do not meet this can gain entry via Murdoch's foundation, bridging and enabling pathway programs, or via recognised prior study, VET qualifications or relevant work experience assessed case by case.
