Graduate Diploma in Counselling

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

The Graduate Diploma in Counselling develops the personal and professional skills needed to support people through difficult periods in their lives, including the relationship-building skills central to effective counselling practice. Students engage with current evidence-based counselling approaches through hands-on learning, developing core counselling skills, case conceptualisation, and the application of these skills in real-world settings, including mental health and Indigenous, multicultural, and other diverse communities. Graduates can go on to complete the Master of Counselling in one further year. Counsellor is not consistently listed as a skilled migration occupation in Australia, so this qualification is a stronger fit for direct practice than for a migration pathway. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.
