About this program
The Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Therapies examines how expression through the arts can support the therapeutic process within a person-centred framework, drawing on research into the role of creative processes in mental health. The course combines emerging theory in this area of counselling with hands-on practice to build counselling skills, and is relevant not only to counsellors but also to teachers, social workers, chaplains, psychologists, and youth workers who want to apply these approaches in their existing roles. Graduates may apply for the Master of Counselling and receive credit for units already completed that are common to both degrees. Counsellor is not consistently listed as a skilled migration occupation, and this course does not carry AASW social work accreditation, so it is better suited to direct practice than to a migration pathway. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.
