Master of Counselling
Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia
About this program
A two-year master's usually entered after Murdoch's Graduate Diploma in Counselling (a comparable diploma from elsewhere may be accepted), with year one focused on theory and year two on either a research project or further coursework and case studies.
Two supervised placements are required: an internal one at Murdoch's on-campus Caladenia Clinic and an external one in a community agency, covering assessment and individual and group treatment with diverse clients. The course is accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and the Australian Counselling Association, and graduates are eligible for provisional PACFA registration and Level 2 ACA membership. Selection includes a personal statement, CV and interview. It is taught face-to-face in Perth and suits people committed to clinical counselling practice in government or non-government mental health settings.
