About this program
The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at RMIT University develops the theoretical knowledge and technical skills to work as a construction management professional. Students critically evaluate and apply construction management concepts and methodologies, extending their knowledge in building design, building services, construction methods and processes, procurement and supply chains, sustainability, economics and resource management, and build confidence in managing projects from start to finish. Course structure
- Year 1 The first year will introduce you to the construction and property industries
- setting the foundations for your learning for the following three years. Your subjects will cover how buildings and assets are created
- so you can learn to appreciate each different type and how they are acquired. You will also be taught basic construction management skills. Year 2 Studying the construction process and its technology in greater detail
- you'll learn how to plan
- cost and schedule construction. You will also cover what is required to create sustainable structures. You will be given broader skills in areas such as law
- economics and leadership to help you on your way to becoming an industry leader. Year 3 Third year subjects explore commercial construction in greater detail. You'll gain the skills you need to manage complex construction projects. A research methods subject will build the foundation for your research project in fourth year. Year 4 Your final year prepares you to move into industry. All your learnings will come together in a capstone project where you'll have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to a realistic construction simulation. You will also complete a research project
- including writing a thesis and producing poster presentations

Admissions
Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies . AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics or equivalent studies. Rankings and adjustment factors Entry to this course is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors. You may be eligible to receive adjustment factors which include equity access schemes and/or subject adjustments to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points.
