About this program

A three-year, 72 credit point commerce degree with a specialist major in business economics, combining core commerce units, the economics major and open electives. The major covers microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, with an emphasis on working through ambiguous or incomplete information and communicating findings to non-specialists. A capstone project pulls the degree together, and authentic work integrated learning runs through internships, industry projects and case studies.

Graduates work as economists, economic and business analysts, forecasters and policy advisers across government, consulting and the private sector, which is a natural fit in Canberra given the concentration of federal departments and agencies. Delivery is flexible, with online and blended options and completion timeframes from three years part-time upward. It suits students who want quantitative economic training inside a broader business degree rather than a pure economics program.
