About this program
The Bachelor of Economics equips students with an understanding of how markets, businesses, governments and individuals make economic decisions, and how economic forces shape society. The course requires an ATAR of 85, with an Economics or Financial Economics major forming the core of study, and graduates go on to roles across the Reserve Bank, Treasury, financial services and consulting. The degree also provides a pathway into UWA's honours and PhD programs. Tuition is approximately A$54,500 for the full degree.

Course structure
- 144credit points (24 units), 3 years full time. Structure: one mandatory major, either Economics or Financial Economics, with a maximum of 72 credit points at Level 1, a minimum of 72 credit points at Level 2 or 3, and at least 36 credit points at Level 3. The Economics major is grounded in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics for students aiming at professional economist roles
- Financial Economics focuses on how money, banking and financial markets operate. Students may add an additional major and/or up to two minors from any UWA undergraduate program within the 144 point total

Admissions
Minimum ATAR of 85, or equivalent as recognised by UWA (or an assured pathway offer / place in a relevant UWA access program). Prerequisite: a scaled ATAR score of at least 50 (or WACE grade C or better) in Mathematics Applications, with Mathematics Methods recommended; a bridging course is available for students without the required maths background.
