About this program
A three-year, 72 credit point initial teacher education degree that qualifies graduates to teach children from birth to five years, accredited by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority. Holders of an ACECQA-approved diploma can complete it in two years. Delivery is blended, on-campus or online, at the Bruce campus in Canberra and the Sydney Hills campus in New South Wales.
Study covers child development, early literacy, STEM, play-based learning, behaviour guidance, Indigenous pedagogies and leadership, with a minimum of 95 days of supervised placement across a range of early childhood settings. Working with Vulnerable People registration is required before placement. Graduates work as early childhood teachers and centre directors, and move into education leadership, curriculum and policy roles. It suits students committed specifically to the early years rather than primary or secondary teaching.
