About this program
The Master of Professional Psychology develops advanced knowledge and skills in psychological assessment, intervention, research and practice through coursework, research and supervised placements. It emphasises the integration of science and practice with critical thinking, ethics and cultural diversity, preparing graduates for professional practice in psychology. The program includes a capstone research project meeting Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) standards.

- with the number of electives depending on whether the Notre Dame Core Curriculum was already completed. The program includes 300 practicum hours: 180 hours of observation and simulated practice in Professional Psychology Placement A
- and 120 hours in an external placement with a partner organisation in Placement B
- under supervision by Board-approved supervisors

Admissions
Applicants must have completed an APAC-accredited 4-year sequence of study in Psychology within the last 10 years, with a minimum of Second Class Honours Division B or equivalent, and must be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia before commencing (and must maintain that registration throughout the program). Applicants must also demonstrate suitability through referee reports submitted via the Psychology Reference Portal, a CV, a personal statement, and, for shortlisted candidates, an interview with the selection committee. Applicants with overseas qualifications must have them assessed by the Australian Psychological Society before applying.
