About this program
UQ's Bachelor of Architectural Design is Queensland's only architecture undergraduate degree offering distinct majors, combining studio-based design learning with a strong focus on social and environmental impact. Students start in the design studio from their first semester, tackling projects around climate change, housing affordability and urbanisation, and use UQ's industry-standard facilities including UQ Innovate, CoLab and the VisLab to prototype and model their work. Core courses include sustainability for global citizenship and foundation design studios, and the degree includes field trips and study tours to locations such as Japan and India. Teaching staff are a mix of academics and practising architects, so classroom projects stay connected to real practice. Graduates leave with an industry-ready design portfolio and typically move into roles such as architect, interior designer or urban designer.
