About this program
The Bachelor of Economics at the University of Queensland is the only stand-alone economics degree of its kind in Queensland, training students to analyse, model and predict human and market behaviour to solve policy and business challenges. Core courses in introductory microeconomics, macroeconomics and tools of economic analysis build a foundation before students specialise in up to two majors and choose electives aligned with their career interests, whether in banking, government policy, health, technology or the environment. A professional placement builds practical work experience into the degree, and many students combine it into dual programs with law or business management. Because the degree teaches transferable statistical and analytical skills rather than a single fixed career path, graduates move into varied roles including economic consultant, investment analyst, regulatory affairs officer and business development manager.
