Bachelor of Urban Planning

University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

About this program

UQ's Bachelor of Urban Planning is a 3-year degree that trains students to plan cities, towns and regions around challenges such as climate change, housing affordability, transport and population growth. From first semester, students work through design studios, field trips and community projects, and complete an industry placement working directly with government, community and industry partners. The curriculum covers land use, urban design, transport and infrastructure planning, heritage and conservation, environmental planning and planning law, grounded in culturally responsive and First Nations approaches to planning. Students can also get involved in UQ's student-run Organisation of Planning Students society to build leadership and networking skills alongside coursework. Graduates typically move into roles such as town planner, urban designer, regional development manager or spatial data specialist in government or private planning consultancies.
