About this program
The Master of Heritage Conservation at the University of Sydney is a 2-year postgraduate coursework master's degree. Cultural heritage makes an important contribution to the social, environmental and economic sustainability and wellbeing of communities around the world. Students learn to protect and adapt cultural heritage in ways that respect past knowledge, serve present communities, and create resilient futures. The degree develops expertise in assessing, managing and interpreting heritage while engaging with contemporary debates and challenges such as sustainability, climate change and ethical and inclusive approaches to heritage practice. It aims to develop core competencies in the following areas: The documentation and assessment of culturally significant places, including buildings, sites and cultural landscapes The formulation of policy for culturally significant places and their effective management Understanding of the legal frameworks.
