About this program
The Master of Architecture (Design) is a program of independent, supervised research leading to the presentation of an exhibition of architectural design equivalent in scope to the schematic design of a building of major cultural significance. It is a research masters by creative work (course code 25760), distinct from UWA's coursework Master of Architecture, administered by the Graduate Research School over a standard 2 year, 96 point enrolment.

Course structure
- Over a standard 2 year
- 96 point enrolment
- students undertake independent supervised research leading to an exhibition of architectural design equivalent in scope to the schematic design of a building of major cultural significance. Within four months of first enrolment
- students submit a research proposal covering the brief
- scope of works and estimated construction costs. For examination
- students present the exhibition together with an A3 volume containing the exhibition drawings
- photographs of the models
- the approved research proposal
- and an expanded abstract of up to 5
- 000 words explaining how the design proposal contributes to the discipline of architecture. The exhibition is examined by a committee including the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture
- Landscape and Visual Arts and external examiners
- and students may later apply to upgrade candidature to the Doctor of Architecture (Design)

Admissions
In addition to the Graduate Research School's general admission rules, applicants must have sufficient architectural design experience, as determined by the Graduate Research School Board on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts.
