About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Honours) is a four-year, full-time embedded honours degree building research-led knowledge of landscape architecture theory, practice and application, emphasising creative design inspired by the Australian context while preparing graduates to work internationally. Students synthesise their skills through ten real-world, project-based design studios across the degree, culminating in a significant, research-led independent design study in the final year, and graduate with a genuine pathway toward professional registration as a landscape architect. Coursework spans landscape design, design communication, history and theory, natural and cultural systems, and professional practice, positioning graduates to address ecological challenges, social equity and human health through design at multiple scales. It suits students drawn to landscape architecture as a critical design profession shaping public spaces in cities and regions, rather than gardening or horticulture-focused study.

UNSW Built Environment recognises that your academic results may not reflect your potential in creative thinking and making. We have therefore introduced an optional alternative admission scheme to give applicants for our design programs an opportunity to submit a portfolio to be considered in conjunction with their academic achievements. Applicant may be required to do an interview as part of the admission process.
