About this program
The Master of Built Environment (Research) at UNSW Sydney lets students develop expert knowledge in an area of built environment research. Candidates undertake an original investigation that is more limited in scope than a doctorate, while building skills in research design, critical and creative thinking, and problem solving. The program involves a minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of two years of full-time study, with supervised research leading to a thesis that normally does not exceed 75,000 words. All candidates complete a research seminar course in their first term to help develop an appropriate methodology. The degree is based in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture at the UNSW Kensington campus in Sydney, and can lead to further doctoral study or to research and specialist roles in architecture, planning, construction and property.
