About this program
Bond University's Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy is a four-year program that is both an entry-to-practice qualification and a research doctorate. The first two years are an accelerated Master of Occupational Therapy, an entry-level clinical degree, and the final two years add a doctoral research component and a capstone internship. It includes more than 1,600 hours of practice-based education. Graduates of the master's component are eligible to apply for registration as an occupational therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, so a graduate from another field can use this pathway to enter the profession. The program is also accredited in the United States by ACOTE, supporting eligibility for NBCOT certification and practice in the US and Canada. Graduates work as clinician-researchers and move into leadership roles. It suits people who want to qualify as an occupational therapist and complete a doctorate in one continuous program.

Admissions
Students who are enrolled in Bond's Master of Occupational Therapy and who meet the requirements below may apply to progress to the Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy at the completion of Bond's Master of Occupational Therapy program. Students applying to progress must meet the following criteria: Successful completion of all requirements of Bond's Master of Occupational Therapy, including the Clinically-focused research pathway, AND. be in good academic standing, AND. have a minimum weighted average mark of 75%, AND. successful completion of all practice education fieldwork experiences on the first attempt. Admission is on the basis of an approved research proposal and successful completion of a Confirmation of Candidature presentation.
